Cover Art Contest Details

I realize that you need more information from me to draw a cover for the book I am writing. So here it is!

My book is a supernatural fantasy adventure. The characters I would like to see on the cover are:

1. The lead woman who is beautiful, has black hair and bright blue eyes.
2. A really tall man with black, jaw length hair, and mocha skin tone. Blue-green eyes, flecked with yellow, high cheekbones, a broad strong jaw line.
3. The lead man has thick dark hair, choppy, spiked layers. Amber eyes with bright green flecks. Full lips, strong chin and jawline.
4. A beautiful platinum blond woman with light brown eyes, slim, and pale skin.
5. A young gypsy woman.

I would like to see any combination of these characters, or all of them.

There is an upper city that looks like a normal city, except that there are no buildings over four stories tall. There is also a city underneath the city that you see. The Undercity is in shambles with piles of stone and dirt. Rundown, crumbling looking buildings. There is a tall castle at one end of the city, it looks like the ground caved in around and over it. Parts of it protrude but some of it is hidden behind rock and dirt slides. The entire city has a high dome above it.

I am setting the start date for October 10th, and the end date will be October 30th. I will post my favorite five on the blog and ask for votes on the 1st of November. The voting will be open until the 5th of November. I will post the winning cover on my blog on the 6th!

Cover Art Contest!

I was trying to figure out how I was going to find the perfect cover for my book... there are specific things I am looking for. Because I am a new author I want to feature art from a new, or newer, artist. Someone who has had little or no exposure. Possibly someone who has not had an opportunity to put their art out there in the world.

I have been struggling trying to figure out how to look for said artist... Then it hit me! I am going to have a cover art contest

I would love to feature some of the art on my blog. I would like to pick my favorite five and have everyone vote on their favorite! That way my target audience... You... has a say in what the book looks like!

I would like some opinions on what kind of reward you would like to see for the winner, and the runner ups of the contest. I will announce the start and end dates, rewards, and all other details when I get them worked out.

Please let me know what you think. Leave me a comment on this blog, or email me with "Cover Art Contest" in the subject line.

Feel free to help me spread the word and +1 this post, share it on facebook, twitter, or your favorite social networking site!

Funny Skype Cat Story

So I was visiting one of my friends last night. Her sons are visiting their father in another state. My friend was on Skype with her oldest son. One of her cats was wandering in and out of all the rooms frantically looking for something. It took us a few minutes but we figured out that he was looking for the source of 'the voice'.

She decided to put her laptop on the floor so the cat could say hi as well. After all, cats are people too. I have to admit it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. This is what happened.

The cat looked up at her and then back to the laptop. He did this several times, while meowing at my friend. He circled the laptop trying to figure out where his boy was. Then the cat put both feet on my friends leg and looked up at her as if to say "Hurry, he is trapped in there! We have to get him out!" My friend giggled and the cat got down looked at the laptop screen, then he turned and walked down the hall. I swear I heard the cat say "This is child abuse, and  I am ashamed of you!"

I did not see or hear from the cat again my entire visit. I cannot help but wonder if he is still trying to figure out how to get his human out of the little flat box...
